How the Windmill is installed at
The Windmill is located on the third floor
(with The Russian Dinosaur Exposition).
It
is installed over a three-storey open space
on three thirty-inch "I-beams".
It
is set up so that the auxillary shaft is connected to a
step-down gearbox and
thence connected to a one-half horsepower
electric motor which thereby raises
a 20,000 pound granite block.
Future plans call for the settling granite block
to run a 120 foot
clock escapement from the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair.
