Historical Association, Freehold NJ. NOTE: Tho: Ingham, executor to the estate of
Tho: Coxe, presented an account of how he had spent the estate since Aug 1681, when
he married the widow Elizabeth coxe [sic] and six children, two of them very small.
Dated Feb 26, 1688/9. Items included: expenditures upon the family L10 per annum;
costs for clearing, fencing and building land L50; paid in quit
rents 11-17-00;
debts at the shoemakers and others; and administrators expenses. NOTE: It is likely
this inventory was taken due to Thomas Cox, eldest son, turning 21 years - it would
be in his interest to have an accounting of
his late fathers' estate.

Ingorham, widdow & Thomas Cox, both
of Middletown, signed an administratrix
bond on Jan 15, 1690; on the estate of Thomas Ingram, deceased, intestate. She is
described as 'late wife of Thomas
Ingram'.
BIOGRAPHY: There do not appear
to be any other Blashfords living in the area of Maspeth Kills at the time of Elizabeth's
marriage to Thomas Cox. It would have been very unusual for a single woman to be
unaccompanied by family in this early settlement. She appears at a witness at Quaker
weddings in NJ, but does not seem to have been an active member of the Meeting there.
Thomas Ingraham and the widow Elizabeth were probably married within one month of
the death of Thomas Cox, by Capt John bowne, justis of the peace in Middle Town,
Sep ye 9, 1681. A few years later, Thomas Ingraham presented an accounting of the
estate of *Thomas Cox, dec'd, to the Monmouth Co., NJ
court on 26 Feb. 1688/9, which stated that at the time of her marriage, the widow
Elizabeth carried with her six children, two of them "very small." However,
Elizabeth was left a widow again, when she was granted letters of administration
of the estate of Thomas Ingraham, 16 Jan 1690/1 in Monmouth Co. NJ.
