He enlisted in Company C, 11th Pennsylvania Reserves, Volunteer Infantry
and took part in the following battles:
Cedar Mountain 1862
Drainsville 1862
2nd Bull Run 1862
South Mountain 1862
Antietam 1862
Gettysburg 1863
Cedar Creek 1863
Mine Run 1863
Wilderness 1864
He was shot through the cheek during a hot skirmish December 13, 1862.
At the Battle of Wilderness he was captured by the Rebels and confined at
different times in rebel prisons at Danville, Florence, Andersonville, and Libby Prisons.
He was exchanged March 6, 1865 and mustered out August 10, 1865.
Member of Grand Army of the Republic.
He died from disease contracted during his stay in rebel prisons.
