Tarchia kielenae

tarchia skull
Tarchia kielanae -Maryanska, 1977- skull
Archosauria: Ornithischia: Ankylosauria: Ankylosauridae
Locality: Nemegt Basin, Gobi Desert, southern Mongolia
Age: Late Cretaceous (Campanian), 75 million years ago

In the Mongolian language Tarchia translates as 'brain'.
Tarchia has a large braincase.
However, the brain of Tarchia was still tiny in comparison to any mammal of
the same size. All that is known of this armoured dinosaur is its skull.
Thus there is much
to be learned about this creature in the future.
